terms and conditions
Terms and Conditions
Please carefully read these terms and conditions. By signing up to classes or booking one to one training services, you are agreeing to comply with the following terms and conditions.
Services
All services are provided by Jenny Martin under the business name Your Pet Mentor and will be referred to in these terms as ‘I’ or ‘me’.
Any references within these terms to “you” or “the Customer” mean the person purchasing the services as named on the booking form or invoice.
My services include puppy classes, one to one puppy training packages and one to one dog training services.
I do not provide behaviour modification services and therefore if I feel this is what is needed, I may refer you to another pet professional.
Bookings and Payments
All prices are advertised on my website and booking platforms. You can purchase individual sessions and packages. Please see the website for more details.
Booking for classes is taken through my online booking platform and payment is taken at the time of booking.
One to one training services will be invoiced and payment must be made by bank transfer ahead of the scheduled services.
Payment must be received at least 48 hours before any scheduled services. If I have not received payment, I reserve the right to cancel your appointment.
All sessions booked as part of my puppy mentoring package must be taken within 6 weeks of booking and before the puppy is six months old.
Puppy Classes
Puppies must be under 20 weeks old on the date of the first puppy class.
Bitches in season are not able to attend puppy classes.
Puppies should attend classes on a harness or flat collar and fixed length lead. You will not be able to take part if the puppy is wearing a prong collar, e-collar, martingale collar, slip lead or extendable lead. I may be able to provide alternative equipment if needed.
Classes are not always appropriate for every puppy and I may suggest switching to one to one training sessions if I think this would be in the best interests of the puppy.
All puppies must be fully vaccinated at the time of starting classes and you will need to provide proof of vaccination.
Children over 6 years old are welcome to attend classes but please ensure they have appropriate adult supervision when you are working with your puppy.
One to One Puppy and Dog Training
I may need to collect information about your dog’s behaviour via a free online consultation, phone call or viewing videos of your pet before agreeing to provide one to one training services.
If purchasing a package of multiple one to one training sessions, all dates must be scheduled at the time of booking.
Children are welcome to join in with sessions, but please ensure they have appropriate adult supervision when you are working with your puppy.
We will agree on an appropriate location for training at the time of booking. If this will be taking place outside, please ensure you are wearing appropriate clothing.
Methods I use
All training methods will be kind, ethical and based on the principles of positive reinforcement and other science based methods.
I do not endorse and will not use any methods that cause pain or fear, such as prong collars, e-collars and choke/check chains. These tools can prevent any work we do with your dog from being effective, so I may choose to discontinue any training services if any of these tools are being used.
My training and handling methods are kind and humane. Should I see any conduct or treatment which does not align with my approach, I will terminate the delivery of my services immediately.
It is your responsibility to ensure that your pet is up to date with any vaccinations, worming and other necessary treatments.
Cancellations and Refunds
My services are unlikely to be affected by inclement weather as they mostly take place inside. However if a session needs to be cancelled due to extreme weather I will aim to give as much notice as possible.
Should I need to reschedule a session for any reason I will provide you with as much notice as possible.
Should you need to postpone a session, including your pet being unwell, you will be required to give at least 48 hours’ notice. If less than 48 hours’ notice is given, that session will be forfeited and no refunds will be provided.
Should you change your mind within the first 14 days following your booking, you will be provided with a full refund, as long as no element of the services have not already been delivered.
If you change your mind after some services have already been delivered but within 14 days of booking, then a refund will be provided pro-rata in accordance with the amount of sessions delivered and time dedicated to the planning and preparation of your sessions.
All refunds will be provided in accordance with your statutory rights.
Complaints
I will investigate any complaints carefully and promptly and will take reasonable steps to resolve them.
If you would like to escalate any complaint, you can contact my accrediting body, The Professional Association of Canine Trainers (PACT) at office@pact-dogs.com.
Liability and Limitations
At all times during the class or training session, your pet is entirely your responsibility. Even where the trainer is working alongside you.
I will not take responsibility for any loss or damage caused by your pet. I accept no liability for any loss, injury, or damage to any person or property caused by you or your pet.
I do not accept any liability for you not being able to attend the session due to adverse weather or road conditions.
I do not accept responsible for any losses arising in circumstances where I become unable to deliver the services such as illness, bereavement, or circumstances beyond my control. In such circumstances I will make every effort to keep you updated and advised and an alternative session will be rescheduled as soon as possible.
I make no guarantees or claims for the success of any training I recommend, as this is contingent on many different factors. Each individual and their dog(s) are unique, and their abilities, temperament and behaviour are unique to them. All training takes a different amount of time for each dog.
I am not responsible for any action or inaction which you take as a result of the information provided to you within the session(s).
No content in the session(s) should be taken as veterinary or nutritional therapeutic advice. If you believe that your dog(s) requires veterinary attention, you should seek assistance from a veterinary professional immediately.
Any testimonials used within my marketing are provided freely and independently but they are illustrative only. I cannot guarantee results in terms of the outcome or timescales.
Nothing in these terms shall limit or exclude my liability in respect to fraudulent misrepresentation, death, or personal injury, resulting from our negligence, or any other liability which cannot be limited or excluded by law.

You can find details of how I collect and process your personal data in my Privacy Policy.

You are not permitted to duplicate, republish, reproduce, distribute, translate, or provide copies to third parties, without my prior written agreement.
During sessions I may take photographs or videos of you and your pet. Such content can be useful for training and marketing purposes. Please email me if you do not agree with me sharing images or video footage of our sessions on social media or within my online training materials and resources.
Where you provide me with a testimonial, you are providing consent for me to use that testimonial within my marketing and you shall not receive a fee or compensation of any kind. I reserve the right to terminate the services provided to you at my sole discretion. Grounds for termination include, but are not limited, to:

Any behaviour by you which we deem detrimental to group activities
In the event of termination, no refund will be provided for any services previously provided to you, subject to your statutory rights set out below.
Third Party Rights and Applicable Law
No person other than the recipient of my training services shall be deemed to have the benefit of the services or have any rights to enforce or rely on any of the terms.
These terms are our standard terms and conditions of business and shall at all times be construed in accordance with the laws of England & Wales.
The English Courts will have exclusive jurisdiction in relation to any claim, or dispute arising out of this agreement or any matter arising from it.
